gym

Hello, hello!  we are all doing quite well so far.

I joined a gym and simon who has been less than agreeable about going to the Kids Club the last two days, finally stayed and played and had fun. hooray!  we had to talk a lot about the gym.  that scary place needed a name so i named it the gym and we talked and talked about it yesterday. i said, you remember that place with the slides?  "ya, scary slides"  and it has a kitchen with playfood? "ya, scary kitchen." and you were crying? (he only lasted 10 min yesterday) "ya, i crying".

Then this morning i told him all about our plan for the day.

We're going to take Owen to school and then Penny to school and then we get to go to the gym "ya, scary gym." and then we get ICE CREAM!  "ya, ice cream!" with a big smile.

reminded him a LOT on the way to all of our destinations.  then got to the lobby and he cried so i sat on a comfy chair with him while he played a game on my phone. Then moved to a chair closer to the kids club doors. and he was ok after a few minutes went inside and just sat on the floor of the kids club and he cried but kids wanted to play with him and sent cars under the half door to enter the play space.  decided it was ok to play but started crying the instant i told him i was leaving.  but it was a different cry from yesterday so i decided to go out just for a few minutes.  he was sad but they took him to the legos after a few minutes i looked through the glass doors. they gave me a sign he was still crying but it was ok. so i waited a few more minutes and she gave me a thumbs up so i jumped on the treadmill.  i went back 40 minutes later and he was fine!

they said at first he was crying and didn't want to play with anything but wanted to throw the toys o they let him throw toys.  then a little boy came by with something he likes and he stopped crying and started playing.  yay!

penny started sunbeams this week and simon had a hard time with nursery without her.  they are close little buddies, clearly he really depends on her. total comfort zone.

anyway, i let him choose ice cream at target after and he chose sprinkle drumsticks, of course!

so we will see how tomorrow goes.  being alone for such a long time becomes a mental game. This is totally going to help me prevail.  before doug left he called me a conquerer (love that) so here i go to conquer the next two months, nay, beat them into submssion!
